Located between the towns of Andenne and Huy, the town of Héron is at the meeting point between the Hesbaye plateau and the banks of the Meuse.
The town of Héron offers beautiful landscapes enhanced with signposted routes to be enjoyed on foot or by bike over 70 km and which contributes to the development of quality tourist accommodation. This feature offers an opportunity to take in the woodland ecosystems and meadows at the bottom of the valleys as well as the vast agricultural expanses which are typical of the Hesbaye. Alongside Braives, Burdinne and Wanze, the perimeter of the Parc naturel des Vallée de la Burdinale et de la Mehaigne reserve extends to the edge of the town of Héron at the source of the Burdinale, in Waret-l'Evêque.
The landscape is dotted with several large farms or "censes" typical of the Hesbaye along with beautiful châteaux. Among the remarkable buildings in the area is the castle farm of Marsinne where Léopold7 beer is brewed, another example is the Moulin de Ferrières mill and the listed site around the church of St. Hubert in Lavoir.
Farming activities are booming in the area, they contribute to the ever-changing landscapes and offer high quality local produce.
