Modave

Anchored in the heart of the Liège Condroz region, the picturesque Hoyoux valley and its small tributaries run through the commune of Modave. Although located in a rural area, it is close to several urban centers, including the town of Huy. Its territory consists of a succession of valleys and ridges (les tiges) in a wooded landscape dotted with castles and remarkable farms.

The must-sees

Patrimonial, unusual, sporty, fun: if you had to do only one activity in this locality it’s in these proposals that you will find it.

Modave shares the Hoyoux valley with Marchin, developing both along the watercourse and on the wooded slopes.

The hamlets of Outrelouxhe (the Fond d’Oxhe stream walk); de Strée, its castle, church, a former Templar farm and a spring group the village around a road axis between Huy and Ouffet, the famous Route 66.

Vierset-Barse and its moated castle, Limet and the Saint-Pierre chapel, of real interest for its Romanesque choir (12th century).

See, in the valley, along the RAVeL, the Ferme-Château de Royseux, that of Barse and its mill on the Hoyoux.

As for Pont-de-Bonne, it’s a commercial crossroads, the crossroads linking the valley to the various villages of the Hutois Condroz, also known for its oppidum.
