Flône Abbey

  • Flône Abbey was founded at the end of the 11th century by three knight brothers on land given to them by the bishop of Liège, where the Floene meets the Meuse. Occupied by the Canons Regular of St. Augustine, the monastery was built as an abbey in 1139. Today, the site is occupied by the Dames de l'Instruction Chrétienne (a religious teaching order).
