Rural architecture

The village and its farms

In Hesbaye and in the Condroz, the majority of beautiful buildings date back to the 18th century, as many were rebuilt in brick (particularly in Hesbaye) and in stone (more so in Condroz) at this time. Often, in these rich regions, around these few imposing farms at the centre of the village, you would find a multitude of small farms spread out along the roads.
The significant size of some of these farms justified the name "castle farms".
The village of Warnant with its numerous farms all in a line, illustrates the treasures of the rural architectural heritage wonderfully.
