Religious architecture

Churches

Particularly rich, the religious architecture from the Roman and Gothic eras is so well represented in our region. The jewel of our area is without doubt the former Cluny priory of St. Séverin and its church which retained the Burgundy style.

Abbeys

As for rural abbeys, they are mostly located in the Meuse Valley and in the valleys formed by its tributaries. The abbeys of Solières, Val Notre-Dame, la Paix-Dieu and Flône have made a mark on the region.

Commanderies

In the Middle Ages, military orders also contributed to the religious movement. The main one was that of the Templars, which established three commanderies in our region in Haneffe, Warnant and Villers-le-Temple.
