In Hesbaye
The region offers an important and varied heritage. Not only are there punctual testimonies of all eras, but also architectural ensembles which, linked to their natural and historical environment, give a renewed desire to learn more about certain periods of the past. Numerous villages speak, better than a book could, of their inhabitants’ past. Warnant, Vieux-Waleffe, Limont, Haneffe, Donceel , Chapon-Seraing, Bodegnée, Viemme, Geer and Hollogne-sur-Geer or the center of Berloz still retain part of their historic core, which includes a castle in harmony with the church, farms and old village houses. An ensemble like the hamlet of Saives (Faimes) with its chapel and two châteaux fermes recall the magnificence of the 18th century, the Age of Enlightenment.
In the Parc naturel
In the Parc naturel des vallées de la Burdinale et de la Mehaigne, the villages and hamlets of Couthuin, Marsinne, Lavoir, Envoz, Fumal, Burdinne, Huccorgne, Hosdent retain their harmonious rural ensembles.
In the Condroz
In the Condroz, Vervoz is surely one of the most balanced architectural and environmental sites. Linchet, Barse, Terwagne, Marchin, Jamagne, Villers-le-Temple, Saint-Fontaine, Pailhe and, above all, Ocquier are villages that have managed to preserve their traditional architecture despite the ever-increasing encroachment of urbanization.
